A dream come true would be an understatement when describing Gary Ingold's passion for racing. His determination and genuine love of the sport has made it possible to race competitively in IHRA and big money bracket racing.
Gary began his racing career in 1988, at the age of 19. His first race car was a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle, appropriately named "Childish Fantasy," that he raced at local drag strips. Gary then took a break to start a family, which gave him two amazing children, Kinsey and Gray. His passion for the sport never waivered, so in 2001, he was able to start back racing on a limited schedule with a Hurst dragster that he purchased from Dennis Hurst in Nacadoches, Texas. At the end of the first season, Gary started his relationship with Russ Farmer at Race Tech Race Cars in Burlington, NC, which motivated Gary to eventually purchase a Race Tech four link dragster. The relationship with Scott Duggins at PAR Engines has been a large part of the success of this car. With the consistency and performance of his Race Tech dragster, Gary took his racing to a whole new level.
In 2010, Gary was able to make his first trip to the Million Dollar race in Indiana. On the way to the race, Gary picked up Peter Biondo's Race Tech dragster at PAR Engines and delivered it to Peter in Indiana. This connection with Peter and Biondo Racing products gave Gary the confidence to continue his quest in Big Bucks bracket racing. In his drive for consistency and winning, Gary enlisted the help of his friend, Paul Mosley at Paul's Transmissions, to handle all of his transmission needs. Gary then added a 2nd Race Tech dragster to the stable. And with the help of his racing partner, Durant Cottingham, Gary was able to field the 2nd Race Tech/PAR Engine/Paul's Transmission dragster. Gary stated, "We figured if a two car team is good, a three car team would be better!" And starting the 2014 season, Gary decided to go to Mickey Thompson slicks to propel our dragsters. According to Gary, "The consistencies of these tires are amazing. They repeat like no other tire we have run before."
Along with his racing career, Gary, an ASE Master Technician, runs a successful automotive and body repair shop. Duraleigh Auto Center has been serving the Raleigh, NC area since 1996.
